In 1808, the year before one of America's most famous presidents was born, the family moved into Sinking Spring Farm, now partially preserved as Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site. On this land is a symbolic log cabin, meant to honor the long-gone family residence of the Lincoln family, built within the Greek-styled Memorial Building. The visitor center provides historical information and exhibits about the land, the Lincoln family and President Lincoln. Take a short walk to the Sinking Spring and the Boundary Oak Tree, both used as location markers for the family residence. This site is set a few miles south of Hodgenville and the Abraham Lincoln Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek is located just 10 miles to the northeast, up US-31E.
